Three people were killed and eight others injured after gunmen opened fire inside a Brooklyn restaurant shortly before closing time early Sunday morning.
According to the New York Post, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed during a press conference that officers responded to reports of gunfire at Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, just before 3:30 a.m.
The victims were identified as three men, aged 27, 35, and another whose age has not yet been confirmed. The eight injured individuals were transported to local hospitals, though their conditions remain undisclosed.
Police have not yet identified any suspects, but investigators recovered at least 36 shell casings from the scene.
Commissioner Tisch stated that New York City has recorded the lowest number of shootings and shooting victims so far this year, but described Sunday’s events as horrific. A full investigation has been launched.
Police officers were seen inside the restaurant standing near pools of blood and shattered glass following the attack.
Taste of the City Lounge, which opened in 2022, is located less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Historical Society and typically closes at 3 a.m. on Sundays.
