At least three people were killed and more than 30 injured during a gas explosion in northeast China on Thursday, local authorities reported.

Local fire authorities revealed that 33 people were injured from the blast, which occurred around 8:20 am at a restaurant in the Heping District of Shenyang City.

The gas explosion took place in a mixed-use residential and commercial building and had shattered windows of nearby buildings and halted traffic.

Videos circulating on Chinese social media showed that nothing was reminded of the restaurant except exposed structural beams.
