3 killed, 3 Wounded in Random Attack at Illinois Bowling Aalley

Three people were killed and other three wounded in shooting at Illinois bowling alley in Rockford which took place yesterday evening, which police believed it was a random attack.

Police Chief Daniel O'Shea said that police received calls for a shooting with multiple victims at Don Carter Lanes around 6:55 p.m.

Police found three people dead at the scene and three others with injuries from gunfire, O'Shea mentioned, noting that those victims have been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

O'Shea also claimed that there were at least two teenagers among the victims; however, he did not clarify whether they were killed, the extent of their injuries or their exact ages.

“When officers arrived on scene, the shooter was still in the building,” he stated. “No officers fired their weapons that we know of at this point, but the inpidual that we believe is responsible, and the only inpidual we believe at this point to be involved, we may have in custody.”

Police Chief indicated that it is unclear if the people who were shot were employees or patrons, pointing out that the shooting happened both inside and outside the bowling alley.

Later on, Rockford police tweeted that a “suspect is in custody.”

The bowling alley posted on its Facebook page the message: “Pray Please.”

“I'm angered and saddened by the violence tonight at Don Carter Lanes,” Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara said in a statement posted on Facebook.

“My thoughts are with the families of those who lost loved ones.” McNamara added. “I'm also thinking of those who were injured and my hopes are with them for a quick and full recovery.”

Rockford is about 90 miles northwest of Chicago, near the Illinois-Wisconsin border.

This incident followed Nashville explosion, happened on Christmas day, which came from a parked RV that exploded, according to Metro Nashville Office of Emergency Management.

The explosion took place outside of an AT&T transmission building. The company told the AP the blast interrupted service, but declined to say how widespread outages were.
