Kazakhstan has suspended the operations of three airlines after violating the United Nations arms embargo on Libya, the country`s government said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Kazakh Ministry of Industry said that it had withdrawn local licenses from Air Azi, Sigma Airlines, and AirGenius, based in the UAE and the British Virgin Islands.

In February, the UN Security Council informed Kazakhstan of violations committed by these groups, according to the statement.

The ministry confirmed that the flights of the three companies to Libya set off from another country.

It pointed out that it is not the responsibility of Nur Sultan to monitor the activities of these companies outside the Kazakh lands.
