Three people, including a student, were injured in a shooting early Sunday near Oklahoma State University following an altercation at a private party off campus.
University Police Chief Michael Bechner said the incident occurred outside the Kerr-Drummond student housing complex after a dispute among several attendees escalated into gunfire. The shooting spread from an outdoor walkway to a nearby parking lot and street.
Two victims underwent surgery and remain in stable condition at a local hospital, while the third received treatment and was discharged. No arrests have been made so far, though police reported having strong leads and urged the public to assist with information.
Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to students or the public. Police units responded to the scene at around 3:40 a.m. after receiving reports that victims had sought help outside campus locations.
The university, located in Stillwater about 80 kilometres northeast of Oklahoma City, said in a statement that all three victims are receiving appropriate medical care as investigations continue.
