The United States witnessed yet another mass shooting on Monday evening, this time in Texas, where three people were killed in an incident that has renewed debate over the country’s gun laws.

According to U.S. media outlets, including the Associated Press, the shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Target store in Austin.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis told reporters at a press conference that the suspect fled the scene after the attack, stealing a car and later crashing it. The suspect then allegedly commandeered a second vehicle before being apprehended.

Chief Davis confirmed that three people were killed in the incident. Officers used a stun gun to subdue and arrest the suspect, who is now in custody.

The motive behind the shooting has not yet been disclosed, and police say the investigation is ongoing.

The tragedy adds to the growing list of mass shootings across several U.S. states, intensifying calls for tighter restrictions on firearm ownership.
