At least three people have died in China after heavy rains in the southern part of the country caused floods, leading to the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents, according to government media reports on Monday.
Since Thursday, heavy rains have been falling in Guangdong province in southern China, which is vital for industry and densely populated, with approximately 127 million inhabitants.
The New China News Agency (Xinhua) quoted the emergency management agency as saying that at this stage "three people have died."
These are the first officially reported victims. Xinhua stated, "They were trapped due to the rains" in Chaozhou, one of the cities in Guangdong, with search operations underway to locate 11 missing individuals.
