Vietnamese authorities confirmed on Tuesday that Typhoon Kajiki has left at least three people dead and ten injured, while unleashing widespread destruction across the country.

Officials warned that relentless heavy rainfall could trigger further flooding and dangerous landslides in the coming days.

According to a government statement, the powerful storm damaged nearly 7,000 homes, inundated around 28,800 hectares of rice fields, and toppled 18,000 trees. The typhoon also brought down 331 electricity pylons, causing large-scale power outages across several provinces, Reuters reported.

Images released by state media showed Hanoi’s streets submerged under severe flooding after torrential rain lashed the capital on Tuesday morning.

The National Meteorological Agency stated that Typhoon Kajiki weakened after making landfall on Vietnam’s north-central coast on Monday afternoon, downgrading into a tropical depression as it moved across Laos on Tuesday morning.

Authorities remain on high alert as emergency services race to restore power, clear debris, and assist residents in flood-affected areas.
