A small aircraft crashed into a building in Belo Horizonte on Monday, killing three people and leaving two others seriously injured, according to emergency authorities.
The crash occurred in the south-eastern Brazilian city, where the pilot and co-pilot died at the scene. Three passengers were rushed to hospital, with one later succumbing to injuries, emergency services confirmed.
All casualties were on board the aircraft, while no injuries were reported inside the building. Officials added that the structure did not suffer critical damage.
Footage aired by TV Globo showed the aircraft attempting to maneuver around high-rise buildings before striking a three-story structure and crashing into a nearby car park.
Emergency crews evacuated residents from the building using ladders, as authorities secured the area and launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
According to Brazil’s aviation safety data, the country recorded 153 aviation accidents in 2025, resulting in 62 fatalities, underscoring ongoing concerns over flight safety standards.
