Powerful storms have claimed the lives of three people in Mississippi and caused significant damage across multiple states, including Oklahoma and Texas.

The extreme weather system, which moved eastward on Wednesday, triggered tornado warnings along the East Coast while heavy snowstorms battered the Midwest and strong winds fueled wildfires in Texas.

Mississippi was among the hardest-hit areas, with severe storms leading to fatalities and structural damage. In Oklahoma, a small town experienced extensive destruction as roofs were ripped from buildings.

The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings across North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Virginia as the storm continued to move toward the Atlantic coast.

A confirmed EF-1 tornado with winds reaching 145 kilometers per hour struck Unionville in Union County, North Carolina.

The tornado caused structural damage and power outages, though no injuries were reported.

As the storm system moved across the country, blizzards hit the Midwest, adding to travel disruptions. Meanwhile, dry winds fueled wildfires in Texas, heightening concerns for residents and emergency responders.

Forecasters have warned that another Pacific storm is set to bring heavy rainfall and snowfall to California and other western regions through Friday.

California Governor Gavin Newsom cautioned that the incoming storm could trigger new debris flows in areas recently affected by wildfires.
