3 Civilians Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Damascus

Three civilians were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting Syria’s capital, Damascus, early Tuesday morning, according to a military source cited by Syria's state news agency, SANA.

The source confirmed that the Israeli military launched an aerial assault from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, targeting multiple locations within the city. The strikes resulted in the deaths of three civilians and left nine others injured, with significant damage to private property.

Among the casualties was a prominent Syrian television presenter, Safaa Ahmad, who was killed in the attack. Syrian state television paid tribute to her, stating, "We mourn the loss of our esteemed presenter Safaa Ahmad, who died as a martyr in the treacherous Israeli airstrike on Damascus."

Earlier on Tuesday, SANA reported that Syria's air defense systems were actively engaging hostile targets around the capital. The same language was used in previous reports concerning Israeli strikes on Syrian territory.

The attack underscores the ongoing tension between Israel and Syria, with Israeli forces frequently targeting what they claim are military positions linked to Iran and Hezbollah within Syria.
