According to the opposition Syrian Civil Defence, or White Helmets, a building collapse in northwest Syria killed a lady and three of her children in Idlib, but her husband and three other children survived, according to The Syrian Observer.
The building on the outskirts of Idleb's southern outskirts collapsed on Wednesday night, after weeks of rain and snow in northwest Syria.
Rescue operations in the two-story structure lasted roughly four hours, according to the White Helmets. According to the group, the mother and one of her children were already dead when rescuers arrived, and two other children died from their wounds shortly afterward.
The father and three additional children were rescued alive later that night and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Idleb province is Syria's final rebel bastion, with a population of almost 3 million people, many of whom are internally displaced.
Syria's crisis began in March 2011 and has resulted in the deaths of almost half a million people as well as the displacement of half of the country's pre-war population of 23 million people.
