The 4th edition of El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) ran from Oct. 23 – Oct 31, in El Gouna resort town, Red Sea Governorate.
The festival management was keen to adhere to Coronavirus measures and successfully concluded the edition peacefully.
GFF was the first artistic event to be held after the Coronavirus crisis has emerged.
However, two days after its conclusion, news began to circulate about a large number of festival guests contracted the virus.
Some of the infected began to announce the news. Famous Egyptian Rapper Wegz announced on November 3rd via Instagram that he tested positive for COVID-19.
Following Wegz's announcement, rising Egyptian actress Sarrah Abdelrahman, who attended GFF, declared on the platform stories that she had also contracted the virus, on Wednesday.
Abdelrahman called on all those in contact with her to get themselves tested.
Screenwriter Reem El Adl also unveiled on Facebook that she had undergone a coronavirus test, which resulted in positive.
She noted that she did not feel any symptoms, but after she returned from El Gouna, she was keen to test for the virus for reassurance.
El Adl asked everyone who contacted her during the past days to get themselves tested.
