At least 25 people have been killed in a powerful explosion at a fireworks factory in southern India, according to police in Tamil Nadu.
Around 40 workers were inside the facility at the time of the blast, which caused extensive destruction to production units and surrounding areas. Several injured workers have been taken to hospital, with some reported to be in critical condition.
Emergency teams continue search and rescue operations at the site as authorities work to locate any remaining victims.
Initial reports suggest the explosion may have been caused by a failure in safety procedures, though investigations are ongoing.
