A devastating fire erupted at a coal company building in northern China on Thursday, killing 25 people and leaving numerous others injured.

The ill-fated building, situated in the coal-rich region of Lvliang city, belongs to the Yongju Coal Company within the northern Shanxi province.

This incident has sent shockwaves throughout the region, as coal production is a significant industry in this area.

State broadcaster CCTV reported on this heartbreaking event, revealing that local district authorities had promptly responded, deploying rescue and emergency services to the scene.

An evacuation effort led to the safe removal of 63 individuals, but it remains unclear whether the 25 casualties were part of this group.

By Thursday afternoon, authorities had managed to control the fire, and ongoing rescue operations were underway.

The injured victims received medical attention at nearby hospitals.

It is worth noting that the fire seemingly originated within a building housing offices and dormitories, rather than within the coal mining area itself.

While coal mine accidents have been regrettably frequent in China, the government has been actively working to enhance safety measures within the industry, aiming to prevent such devastating incidents.
