A tragic bus accident in the Ayacucho region of Peru has left at least 25 people dead and 17 others injured, according to the regional health administration.
Johnny Rolando Valderrama, Head of Highway Protection, reported to the state news agency Andina that the bus veered off a highway in the mountainous region of Ayacucho early in the morning.
The vehicle flipped over and plummeted about 200 meters down the slope.
Bus accidents are unfortunately common in Peru, where many vehicles travel on treacherous mountain roads, often driven by inadequately trained drivers.
