Egypt’s Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, announced on Tuesday the arrival of a new batch consisting of 1,300 railroad cars at Alexandria port as part of a deal with the Russian Transmashholding company.
El-Wazir added; ''the shipment includes 22 train vehicles as part of a EUR 1.016 billion agreement with the Russia’s firm .This brings the total number of railway cars shipped to Egypt under the deal to 173 of vehicles with dynamic ventilation."

El-Wazir.believes the new coaches will contribute to raising the efficiency of daily operations and the regularity of operating schedules, as well as achieving a huge qualitative shift in the level of services provided to passengers
In addition, the concerned agencies are working on ventures to modernise the railway’s signalling systems over 1,800km at a total cost of EGP 46.8 billion. Noteworthy, the agreement between the Russian company and the Egyptian National Railways, worth more than 1 billion euros, is the largest in the history of the Egyptian railway sector.
