April 22 marks 52nd Earth Day, which is immensely significant for the nature protectors.

The day aims to raise awareness and create a global impact on environmental conservation.

Each year on this day, the UN institutions and NGOs call on the industrial institutions and ordinary people to become active volunteers of Earth Day and work towards a sustainable and healthy life.

The theme for this year is ‘Invest In Our Planet.’ It aims at improving the climate, as well as the planet’s health in every way possible. Achieving a sustainable future through growing green, ethical and profitable businesses and corporations is its main motto, according to the Earth Day Organisation.

“Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must Invest In Our Planet. Because a green future is a prosperous future,” said Earth Day Organisation.

The idea behind this occasion began developing in 1969 USA when Senator Gaylord Nelson saw the horrors of a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, California.

In the same year, the day was proposed at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco by peace activist John McConnell to honor the Earth and the concept of peace.
