On Monday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) set Thursday 2 June for Egypt to begin their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign against Guinea before taking on Ethiopia a week later.

The Pharaons have been drawn in Group D alongside Guinea, Ethiopia and Malawi during the draw ceremony conducted on 19 April.

CAF have released the dates and venues of the first two fixtures on Monday.

According to a statement by the Egyptian Football Association, the seven-time African Champions will host Guinea on Thursday 2 June at 9pm Cairo time and are set to travel to Addis Ababa to play Ethiopia on 9 June at 6pm Cairo time in their second group qualifier.

New coach Ehab Galal will make his debut against Guinea after replacing veteran Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz who left after the team failed to qualify for the World Cup 2022.

The Pharaohs are looking for a record-extending 26 participation in the final phase.
