Around 200 people were evacuated from their homes in the town of Oldřišov, located in the Opava district of the Czech Republic, after an unexploded bomb was discovered during excavation work.
According to Radio Prague International, the device was found during a construction or digging operation.
A specialized bomb disposal unit was immediately dispatched to the site, where they successfully defused the explosive.
Authorities have not provided further details about the type or origin of the bomb, but the evacuation was carried out as a precaution to ensure the safety of nearby residents.
The incident highlights ongoing risks associated with remnants of past conflicts, particularly in areas with a history of military activity.
Czech police confirmed that the area has since been declared safe and residents were allowed to return to their homes after the all-clear was given.
