The rainy season has caused the deaths of about 200 people and the displacement of more than 300,000 in Niger, Sky News Arabia reported.
At least 33 people have died in floods and landslides in Niger during the current rainy season, while more than 70,000 people have been affected since last June.
According to the Civil Protection Department in Niamey, heavy rains and floods have left hundreds injured and displaced thousands of others from their homes and villages, in addition to the death of 600 livestock in eight provinces of the country, as well as destroying 24 classrooms and 144 granaries and destroying tons of foodstuffs.
According to Niger's Minister of Disaster Management, Lawan Magaji, the country loses an average of 63 million US dollars due to floods and droughts every year.
