At least 20 people were killed in an armed attack targeting a military patrol and two villages in Plateau State in central Nigeria.
According to local authorities, the victims included 12 soldiers and eight civilians. The assault occurred during a raid carried out by armed groups operating in the region.
The attackers also stole livestock and looted property from the villages before fleeing the area. Security forces have launched operations to track down those responsible.
Plateau State has witnessed repeated violence in recent years, often linked to criminal gangs involved in kidnapping, cattle theft and organized raids on rural communities.
Officials say investigations are ongoing as authorities work to restore security in the affected areas and prevent further attacks.
