Around 20 people were injured in Japan after a man sprayed an unidentified substance inside a luxury shopping Centre in Tokyo on Monday, authorities said.
The incident took place in the upscale Ginza district, one of Tokyo’s busiest shopping and tourist areas.
Police and emergency officials said the suspect released the substance near a vending machine on the ground floor, causing multiple people to suffer symptoms linked to inhalation exposure.
Authorities quickly sealed off surrounding streets as ambulances, firefighters, and hazardous materials teams responded to the scene.
Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that most injuries appeared minor, with no critical cases confirmed.
Tokyo police have launched an investigation into the incident, though officials have not yet disclosed the identity of the suspect or the nature of the substance used.
