Two people were killed in a stabbing attack inside a mosque in central Turkey on Saturday evening, while authorities launched a manhunt for the suspect.

The incident occurred shortly before evening prayers at a mosque in the Kocasinan district of Kayseri, where the attacker allegedly became involved in a verbal altercation with the victims before fatally stabbing them.

Turkish gendarmerie units and emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the two victims died from their injuries at the mosque. Their bodies were later transferred to a state hospital for forensic examinations.

Local reports identified the suspect as a man believed to suffer from psychological disorders. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the attack, which took place in the Saraycik neighborhood.

Authorities said an extensive security operation remains underway to locate and apprehend the suspect.
