Two people were killed and another injured in a shooting outside a bar in the US state of Connecticut early Saturday, according to local authorities.
Police in West Haven responded to reports of gunfire on Campbell Avenue at around 1:27 a.m. and found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. All were transported to hospital, where two later died from their injuries, while the third remains under medical care.
Authorities closed roads surrounding the scene for more than nine hours as investigators examined the incident. Preliminary findings suggest the shooting was an isolated event, and police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation into the motive and circumstances of the attack remains ongoing.
The shooting comes as the United States continues to grapple with persistent gun violence, with firearm-related deaths and injuries remaining a major public safety and political issue nationwide.
