Two Israeli settlers were killed and six others injured on Friday in a combined stabbing and vehicle-ramming attack near the Beisan area in northern Israel, close to the city of Afula, according to Israeli police and emergency services.
Israeli police said they received an initial report of a stabbing incident near Ein Harod, where a woman was wounded. The attacker then fled the scene in a vehicle, driving toward Afula.
Security forces later intercepted the suspect vehicle near Afula, where the attacker was neutralised. Police units from Israel’s northern district were deployed to the area, and an investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the attack.
Israeli emergency services reported that the assault occurred across three separate locations in the Beisan area. In addition to the fatal stabbings, the assailant also carried out a ramming attack, seriously injuring a 70-year-old settler.
Medical teams confirmed that two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while six others sustained injuries of varying severity and were transferred to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions and increased security alerts across Israel, with authorities continuing to assess the motive behind the attack and whether it was carried out by a lone assailant.
