Two patients were killed and more than 30 people injured after a fire broke out at a hospital in Ludwigslust, Germany, early Monday, according to local authorities.
Officials said the blaze started in a patient room before spreading to the roof of the five-storey hospital at around 4:30 a.m. local time. The victims were identified as hospital patients, while authorities reported no serious injuries among the wounded.
Patients and staff were evacuated as firefighters battled the blaze, with emergency crews continuing rescue operations throughout the morning. Images from the scene showed smoke and flames rising from the building, while evacuees waited outside wrapped in emergency blankets.
