Two people have been confirmed dead and nearly 100 injured after a passenger train collided with a truck in southern Russia on Monday.
The train, carrying around 800 passengers, derailed when it struck the truck, resulting in eight of its carriages coming off the tracks.
The collision occurred as the train was traveling from Kazan in Tatarstan to Adler on the Black Sea.
It derailed near the Kotelniki station in the Volgograd region, about 1,200 kilometers south of Moscow.
Emergency services are on the scene, with 324 responders actively involved in the rescue efforts. Specialized emergency helicopters have also been dispatched to the site.
Preliminary reports indicate that two fatalities have been confirmed, but the death toll may rise. News agency Interfax reported that up to 100 people could have been injured.
A video circulating on Telegram, which has not been independently verified, shows at least four carriages off the tracks, some twisted, with passengers climbing out of a carriage that had tipped over next to the tracks.
Another video shared by Mash on Telegram depicts the remains of a Kamaz truck wreckage beside the derailed train.
Russian news agency TASS cited unnamed law enforcement sources stating that 20 people were injured when the train collided with the truck.
