At least two children died after a ferry carrying more than 35 people collided with a bridge while crossing the Euphrates River in Syria's eastern city of Deir ez-Zor, according to the Syrian Civil Defense.
The locally made ferry struck the bridge before everyone on board fell into the river.
The Syrian Civil Defense said more than 15 people were rescued, while search-and-rescue operations are continuing for those still missing.
Emergency teams in Deir ez-Zor are working with the Ministry of Defense and local residents to search the river and locate survivors.
