First Russian flight will land tomorrow at Hurghada International Airport, after a six-year hiatus since the 2015 Russian plane crash in Sinai.
Sources revealed that the flight is a Boeing, carrying about 500 Russian tourists. It will be greeted with water cannons as an international tradition when a flight arrives for the first time at airports.
The source affirmed that officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Aviation, Tourism Promotion and the Governor of the Red Sea, as well as a Russian security delegation, will receive the flight to ensure that precautionary and security measures are implemented inside the airport.
On Friday, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency issued permits to eight Russian airlines to resume regular flights to Egypt’s resorts.
Starting Aug. 9, Russia plans to resume flights with Egyptian resort cities of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. The Federal Air Transport Agency granted permission to Aeroflot, Pobeda, Rossiya, S7, Smartavia, Ural Airlines, Nordwind and Azur Air.
