Severe flooding across all 23 regions of Chad has affected approximately 1.9 million people, according to recent reports.
Heavy rainfall has led to the loss of over 550 lives and the destruction of 210,000 homes, with the rainy season expected to continue through October.
The floods have ravaged around 432,000 hectares of land, severely impacting agricultural production and livestock. About 72,000 livestock have been lost, further worsening the food security crisis in the region.
Chad had already declared a state of emergency related to food security and nutrition earlier in February, and the ongoing floods have exacerbated these challenges.
Among those affected by the disaster, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) estimates that 85,000 pregnant women are in urgent need of assistance.
The situation continues to pose significant challenges for both the government and international aid organizations working to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.
