Nineteen people, including seven children, were injured on Friday when a drunk truck driver rammed into a crowd during Christmas decorations festivities in the town of Sainte-Anne, in the French overseas region of Guadeloupe.
Residents had gathered in the main square for the launch of the town’s Christmas lights when the incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. local time.
The victims were standing near a food truck adjacent to the celebration area when the vehicle struck them.
Authorities arrested the driver, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs. An investigation is underway.
