At least 19 people were killed and more than 60 injured after a powerful storm swept through Karachi, Pakistan, bringing heavy rain and strong winds overnight.
Rescue teams said most casualties were caused by collapsing roofs and walls, as well as falling trees and billboards in residential areas. Additional injuries were linked to electrocution and lightning strikes during the storm.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, wind speeds reached between 90 and 97 kilometers per hour, causing widespread disruption. Roads were blocked in several districts, and large parts of the city experienced power outages.
Authorities continue to assess the damage as emergency crews respond to affected areas, amid warnings of further unstable weather conditions.
