As of Saturday evening, about 18,000 homes in France, primarily in Normandy and Pays de la Loire, remain without electricity following the powerful storm Caetano, according to the French electricity provider Enedis.

Enedis reported that at the peak of the storm on Thursday night, power outages affected 270,000 homes due to intense winds and heavy snowfall.

By Friday, this number had been reduced to 33,000, with ongoing restoration efforts bringing it down further to 18,000 by Saturday evening.

The company aims to restore power to 95% of affected customers by Saturday night, with the remainder expected to regain electricity by Sunday evening.

Normandy and Pays de la Loire are among the hardest-hit areas, with 9,000 and 7,500 homes still without power, respectively.

In anticipation of the storm, Enedis mobilized 2,200 technicians and 400 external contractors. Crews were deployed as soon as conditions allowed safe travel.

The storm, which marked the first major snowstorm of the season, brought winds reaching 130 km/h, causing significant disruption.

The storm also caused substantial travel chaos. Road closures and disruptions to rail services were widespread.

A flight operated by EasyJet, scheduled to depart from Basel-Mulhouse Airport in eastern France to Toulouse on Thursday, was delayed for 18 hours, finally taking off on Friday.

Enedis has assured residents of continued efforts to expedite power restoration and minimize further inconvenience caused by the storm's aftermath.
