Qatar Energy CEO Saad al-Kaabi announced that Iranian attacks have disrupted approximately 17% of Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) export capacity, resulting in losses estimated at around $20 billion annually.
He explained that the attacks damaged two of the 14 LNG processing units, as well as one of the gas-to-liquids (GTL) plants, in what he described as an unprecedented incident.
He indicated that repair work will halt the production of approximately 12.8 million tons of LNG annually for a period ranging from three to five years.
