Malaysia installed its 16th king Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah of Pahang as the new head of state Tuesday.
The country celebrated its 16th king in a ceremony steeped in Malay royal customs and traditions, formally marking his five-year reign as the head of state.
In the meantime, Sultan Abdullah`s wife, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah attended the cermony in an ivory white attire and matching scarf.
He emphasized that unity and harmony are the nation's pillars and strength. "Playing with fire is going to burn not only itself but the entire village as well," he said.
The king also promised to do his best to foster unity and tolerance among inpiduals of all races and cultures.
"I'm going to put the people first; respect the old and honor the young. With great humility I'm going to do this," he said.

Sultan Abdullah started his position as the sixth Sultan of Pahang on Jan 15, succeeding his father. He was subsequently elected as the 16th king at a special meeting of the Conference of Rulers on Jan 24 and was sworn in on Jan 31.
His coronation came after the abdication of Kelantan’s Sultan Muhammad V in January.
The ceremony`s attendee reached about 700 guests, comprising the Malay rulers, Cabinet ministers, and foreign dignitaries. The state television broadcast the ceremony.
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah congratulated Sultan Abdullah.
On his part, bin Zayed shared his best wishes following the inauguration of the Sultan of Pahang, Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, as the 16th king of Malaysia on Tuesday (July 30).
He took to his Twitter account saying: “Today I was pleased to attend the inauguration of my dear friend, Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, as King of Malaysia. I wish him all success in serving his country and people.”
The hashtag #16thking started trending on Twitter hours before the ceremony.
