In a tragic accident on Saturday, sixteen people lost their lives and fourteen others were injured in a collision on the international highway connecting Bolivia and Chile.
The accident occurred when a cargo truck returning to Bolivia from the Chilean border collided with a passenger bus heading to the Arica region of Chile.
Nilo Torrico, Director of the Accident Division of the La Paz Traffic Operational Organization, reported that the truck crossed into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the bus.
The deceased include the drivers of both vehicles. Among the injured, seven women and seven men have been transported to a local hospital for treatment.
This incident underscores the importance of road safety and vigilance, especially on busy international routes.
