At least 15 workers were killed and seven others injured after a boiler exploded at a glue manufacturing plant in eastern Pakistan, according to police reports.
Local official Raja Jahangir said the blast occurred inside an industrial facility in Faisalabad, located in Punjab province. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, as reported by the Associated Press.
The explosion caused extensive damage to the factory building and sparked panic in the surrounding area. A fire broke out shortly after the blast, further complicating rescue efforts.
Poor safety standards remain a persistent cause of industrial accidents and factory fires across Pakistan.
In 2024, a similar boiler explosion at a garment factory in Faisalabad killed more than ten workers, highlighting ongoing failings in workplace safety and regulatory enforcement.
