15 Killed, 7 Injured in Traffick Accident on West of Alexandria Desert Road

In a devastating turn of events late Tuesday evening, a horrific collision on the "Alexandria-Cairo" desert highway, near the free zone in Ameriya, west of Alexandria within the Ameriya Second Police Department's jurisdiction, resulted in the death of 15 individuals and injuries to 7 others.

General Khaled El-Borai, Assistant Minister and Director of Alexandria Security, received a notification from the Alexandria Security Directorate's emergency police service, reporting the accident near the Fish Wealth Bridge and the free zone, indicating fatalities and injuries.

Security forces, accompanied by ambulances, immediately rushed to the accident scene. Preliminary examinations revealed that the collision involved several vehicles, leading to 15 fatalities and 7 injuries.

A responsible source confirmed that the injured were transported to the Ameriya General Hospital for necessary treatment, while the deceased have been distributed among various morgues in Alexandria, awaiting further proceedings by the public prosecution.

Traffic officers, in coordination with the civil protection forces, are working to clear the accident's aftermath to restore traffic flow to normal.

An official report of the incident has been filed, and the case is now pending investigation by the public prosecutor's office.

This tragic incident highlights the ongoing risks on Egypt's desert highways, underscoring the need for enhanced safety measures and vigilant driving to prevent future catastrophes.
