The Zawya cinema and its two branches in Zamalic, and Emad El-Deen Street, is preparing for the opening of the 4th edition of the Cairo Cinema Days (CCD), which will take place on Wednesday.
The film festival program features the rescreening of acclaimed and award-winner productions that were produced in 2019 of the independent and non-commercial Arab cinema.
This year’s edition will be showcasing a selection of fifteen films from Sudan, Palestine, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. It is also presenting an offer for movie buffs, which is that cinemagoers could get a free ticket after watching four films, which is all presented in English subtitles.
The film program is as follows:
"You Will Die At Twenty", is a Sudanese movie that won the Luigi de Laurentiis Award at the 2019 Venice International Film Festival. It is set to be screened in the presence of its director Amjad Abu Alala from March (4-6).
"1982", is a Lebanese movie that was directed and produced by Nadine Labaki. It won the NETPAC Award for World at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, and the Vipresky Jury Prize at the El Gouna Film Festival 2019. It is set to be screened on March 5 and March 7.
"For Sama", is a Syrian documentary film that won the best documentary film at the 2019 Bafta film awards as well as was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 92nd Academy Awards. It is set to be screened on March 5 and March 7.
"Abou Leila", is an Algerian movie that had its world premiered in the Critics' Week program in Cannes. It is set to be screened on March 6 and March 9.
"It Must Be Heaven", is an internationally co-produced comedy movie that was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival; it was also chosen as the Palestinian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. It is set to be screened on March 11 and March 13.
In Mansourah, You Separated Us In Mansourah, is an Algerian documentary film premiered during EDFA 2019, and at the 2019 Agadir International Documentary Film Festival. It is set to be screened on March 19 and March 20.
"A Son" is an intense family drama that won the Salah Abu Saif Award for Best Artistic Contribution at the Cairo International Film Festival 2019, and Venice Horizons Award for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival 2019. It is set to be screened on March 18 and March 20.
"The unknown Saint" is a Moroccan comedy movie, which received Youth Jury Prize for Best Film at Valladolid International Film Festival 2019 and screened at Cannes. It is set to be screened on March 18 and March 20.
"Sahara Street" is an Algerian movie that won the Turin City Award for Best International Documentary at the 2019 Torino International Film Festival and the Best Rising Director at the Locarno International Film Festival 2019. It is set to be screened on March 19 and March 21.
"Tlamess" is a Tunisian drama movie that won the Jury Prize at the Thessaloniki Film Festival 2019. It is set to be screened on March 19 and March 21.
"Last Visit" is a Saudi Drama that won the Jury Prize at the 2019 Marrakech International Film Festival. It is set to be screened on March 20 and March 23.
"All this victory" is a Lebanese drama movie won the Audience Award at the Venice Film Festival 2019 It is set to be screened on March 25 and March 27.
"Talking about trees" is a documentary film that received the Glashoutte Award for Film Documentary at the 2019 Berlinale Festival. It is set to be screened on March 26 and March 28.
"Adam" is a Moroccan drama movie that won the Roger Ebert Prize at the 2019 Chicago International Film Festival and screened at the Cannes film festival. It is set to be screened on March 26 and March 28.
"Noura’s Dream" is a Tunisian movie starring Hend Sabry who won the best actress in a feature film at the Carthage Film Festival 2019 for her performance in the film. The film had also won Gabreski award, and an award at Torino Film Festival 2019. It is set to be screened on March 27 and March 30.
