Fourteen militants were killed in a military operation carried out by the Pakistani Army in the southwestern province of Balochistan, according to an official statement released today by the military’s media wing.

The operation took place in the Zhob district, where army forces seized a significant cache of weapons and explosives from the terrorists. This operation forms part of a wider clearance effort by the Pakistani Army in coordination with security forces to prevent infiltration by terrorist elements across the border from Afghanistan. Over the past two days, the number of militants killed has risen to 47.

On Friday, the Pakistani Army reported that 33 militants attempting to cross into southwestern Pakistan from neighboring Afghanistan were killed during a night operation in Zhob.

The army described the militants as members of the “Khawarij,” a term used by the government to refer to the Pakistani Taliban. The operation is ongoing as security forces continue to search for remaining insurgents.

Pakistan has long accused the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan of turning a blind eye to militant activity near the border, allegations Kabul denies.

The Pakistani military also claimed the militants received support from India, though it has yet to provide evidence to substantiate this assertion. Pakistan, in turn, has accused New Delhi of backing the Pakistani Taliban and separatist groups in Balochistan.
