Iran has presented a series of new demands, described by the New York Post as bizarre, for reopening the Strait of Hormuz in its latest peace proposal, claiming to have given US President Donald Trump a 30-day deadline to accept them.
The new proposal, which makes no mention of Iran's nuclear program, comes after an attack by Iranian forces on a cargo ship near the vital oil shipping lane on Sunday. The Nour News and Tasnim news agencies reported that Iran's 14-point plan calls on the United States to lift sanctions and embargoes on Iran, withdraw its forces from the Middle East, and end all hostilities in the region, including the Israeli-Lebanese conflict.
The newspaper says that the failure to address the issue of the nearly 1,000 pounds of enriched uranium possessed by the Iranian regime will almost certainly make the proposal unacceptable to Trump, who has stated that his ultimate goal is to end Iran's nuclear ambitions once and for all.
