1.38% Increase in Manufacturing and Extractive Index during July 2023

Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued a press release of primary data of manufacturing and extractive industries of production index of July 2023.

CAPMAS has updated the index methodology using the base year 2012/2013 and at the level of main indices of industrial activity according to the Industrial Activity Manual (ISIC Rev.4) and by using the monthly index (for producer prices based on 2012/2013)That's since January 2020.

Manufacturing and extractive industries index (excluding crude oil and petroleum products) reached 103.16 during July 2023 (primary) compared to 101.76 during June 2023 (final) increase of 1.38%.

Economic Activities that witness an increase are as follows:

  • The Manufacture of food products reached 124.45 during July 2023, compared to June 2023, reaching 112.44, an increase of 10.68% due to market needs.
  • The Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations reached99.32 during July 2023, compared to June 2023, reaching 95.70, an increase of 3.78% due to market needs.

A decrease in the level of the following economic activities:

  • Manufacture of electrical equipment; reached 126.03 during July 2023, compared to June 2023, reaching 138.69 a decrease of 9.13%, due to stopping imports.
  • Manufacture of furniture; reached 135.38 during  July 2023, compared to June 2023, reaching 173.67 a decrease of 22.05%, due to supply and demand conditions.
