At least three civilians and ten Iraqi Kurdish peshmerga fighters were killed in northern Iraq in an attack blamed on the ISIS group, the forces announced Friday.
In response to the attack, the Ministry of Peshmerga in Iraq has threatened terrorists and their supporters to pay for their deeds, affirming that the blood of the martyrs will not go in vain.
In a statement, the ministry said: "ISIS terrorists attacked the village of Khidir Jija, south of Irbil Thursday night."
Moreover, it explained that a combing operation began in the area, noting that one of the vehicles fell into an ambush for ISIS terrorists which resulted in the deaths.
Last month, a powerful explosion rocked the Iraqi capital, Baghdad near the al-Qarrada area in the so-called Green Zone, or the International Zone, a heavily guarded diplomatic and government area in Baghdad. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
