An explosion in Pakistan's Punjab region has claimed the lives of at least 13 people, including women and children, and left seven others injured.

The explosion occurred when two men were preparing fireworks in the upper floor of their home. Authorities have launched an investigation into the tragic incident.

According to the Pakistani police, the blast occurred during the preparations for a fireworks display.

The victims were primarily family members and nearby individuals who were caught in the blast, which led to widespread panic in the area.

In Pakistan, fireworks are commonly used during festivals, weddings, and other celebrations.

However, their hazardous nature when improperly stored or handled is a known concern, with previous incidents resulting in fatal accidents and injuries.

The Pakistani government has occasionally called for greater regulation and safety measures surrounding the sale and use of fireworks.
