In a missile attack carried out by Houthi rebels in Yemen's Marib governorate, at least 12 persons were killed and 20 more were injured.

According to local reports and eyewitnesses, the Houthis attacked five properties in Al Jalwah district on Thursday, including the home of a clan chieftain.

Muammar al-Iryani, Yemen's Information Minister, reported on Twitter that Iranian-made ballistic missiles hit a residential community in Marib, demolishing four homes and a mosque.

The attack came as Saudi-led coalition forces stated that 95 Houthis had been killed and 11 military vehicles destroyed in Marib operations during the last 24 hours.

According to a statement released on Thursday, the coalition carried out 22 operations in two regions around Marib, killing 95 terrorists and damaging 11 military equipment.

The most recent bombings took place at Al-Jawba, roughly 50 kilometres south of Marib, and Al-Kassara, 30 kilometres northwest.

Marib, the capital of the same-named oil-rich province, is the internationally recognised government's final stronghold in northern Yemen.

When the Houthis took the capital of Yemen, Sanaa, 120 kilometres west of Marib, in 2014, Saudi-led forces intervened to back up the government the following year.

In what the UN considers the world's worst humanitarian disaster, tens of thousands of people have perished and millions have been displaced.

The Houthis launched a significant operation to take Marib in February, and after a brief pause, they have resumed their assault in recent weeks.
