At least 12 civilians, including six children, were killed in a terrorist attack in northwest Pakistan, authorities confirmed.

The attack involved two car bombs, which struck a security facility in a bustling market area shortly after Iftar during Ramadan.

According to a military official, the explosions caused the roof of a nearby mosque to collapse, adding to the devastation.

Following the initial blasts, armed militants attempted to storm the military facility but were repelled by Pakistani security forces, who killed six assailants in a gunfight.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Mohammad Nauman, a spokesperson for a nearby hospital, confirmed the death toll at 12, with 30 others injured due to falling debris from collapsed buildings and walls.

Local emergency services are continuing rescue efforts, searching for survivors trapped under the rubble.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, strongly condemned the attack, vowing that the country will not allow its enemies to achieve their sinister goals.

The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the province bordering Afghanistan where the explosion occurred, also denounced the attack.
