At least 12 people have been killed as a result of landslides caused by heavy rains in northern Haiti, which persisted for several days.
Local media quoted authorities in Haiti as saying that eleven of the victims died in the southern suburb of Cap-Haïtien after a house collapsed due to the heavy rains that inundated the city for several days.
The collapsed building led to the collapse of two other houses, while another person died due to another landslide in a nearby area.
Rescue teams, firefighters, and local volunteers are currently working to remove the debris in search of victims.
