A tragic accident in northern Mexico claimed the lives of 12 people and left four others injured on Sunday after a pickup truck plunged into a deep ravine, authorities reported.
According to local official Erik Cavazos, the vehicle, carrying 16 passengers, veered off the road and fell about 120 meters into a mountainous ravine near Santiago in Nuevo León state.
Emergency responders confirmed that 12 victims lost their lives at the scene, while the four survivors were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Road accidents are common in Mexico, often attributed to excessive speeding and poor road conditions. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
