At least 11 people were killed and five others injured in clashes between farmers and herders in Chad on Saturday, according to local media reports.
The violence erupted in several villages in the Kim district of the Mayo-Kebbi East region after a herd of cattle reportedly damaged farmland. Homes were also set ablaze during the unrest.
Disputes over land and grazing rights are a recurring source of conflict in Chad, often leading to deadly confrontations between farming and pastoralist communities.
According to the country's Ministry of Public Security and Immigration, communal clashes across Chad killed 3,018 people and injured 3,015 others between 2024 and 2025, highlighting the scale of the ongoing crisis.
